The city police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 303 accused, including more than 250 people for violating the pillion riding ban, in different raids and actions, while five alleged criminals were killed in different encounters with police in the city during the last 24 hours.
According to Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi report, police arrested 250 people during snap checking on the instructions of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi for violating the pillion riding ban under section 144 CrPC.
Spokesmen Karachi police Atiq Sheikh said that police conducted 136 raids in different areas of the city in the consequence of these raids. They arrested one terrorist, 23 criminals under Arms Act, 10 under Narcotics Act, five proclaimed offenders, absconders and robbers.
The police also claimed recovering 29 handguns, one hand grenade, drugs and liquor from the possession of arrested accused.
