No crackdown against PTI, PAT, only arresting attackers: ICT Police

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police says no crackdown is being launched against PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) activists.

In a statement, a police spokesman said that efforts were underway to arrest workers of PTI, PAT and Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen who were involved in attacking PTV and other important buildings. He confirmed that few arrests have been made in this regard.

As many as six rifles, 29 cartridges, one gas mask, wireless set snatched from police, camera, laptop and catapults were seized from the accused.

The spokesman said that some arrests, including of Asif alias DJ Butt, were made for violating Section 144. He said 17 gunmen of PAT have also been arrested for being involved in attack on Parliament House and PTV and legal proceedings would be initiated against them under the law.
