Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday expressed disappointment over the role of judiciary to unveil massive rigging in the general election and for keeping mum on the illegal arrests of political workers.
Addressing his supporters at the Azadi sit-in venue, Khan said, “I ask the judiciary under what laws our workers have been arrested by police.” He said PTI has been holding peaceful protest for a month now.
“I humbly ask the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice. It is the right time to provide justice to this nation. Is it not judges’ job to protect human rights?”
Addressing the government, Khan said: “You are trying to obstruct the path of a peaceful revolution, which may lead to a bloody revolution if the people are not allowed to exercise their right to protest against injustices.”
Khan said that Musharraf’s dictatorship was better than Nawaz Sharif’s democracy. He advised Shah Mahmood Qureshi to suspend talks with the government owing to arrest of PTI’s workers.
Judiciary must play positive , constructive and tangible role in defining peaceful protest against government. If they fail or sit "mum" – it would lead to disaster some day , if not now.
Questions is that when SCP is of the view that PTI and PAT and any other parties have the right to protest against the govrnemnt if it is under norm then on what ground governement is reacting so harshly?
We wish to aniticipate to show some sanity by the officials of this government not to obstruct students, youth, peasants, labourers, kiln workers, office going staff both gents and ladies, families with children who are willingly and without any pressure wants to join this 30th day of AZADI MARCH DHARNA in Islamabad.
