Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Haider Jamali on Friday directed police to ensure contingency security arrangements around permitted cattle markets in the city and ensure law and order situation with cooperation of other law enforcement authorities.
In a statement issued on Friday, Jamali said only permitted cattle markets would be allowed to work and strict implementation would be made at district level. He said that survey would be carried out at all ways leading to super highway cattle markets by concerned police stations and targeted action through surveillance would be taken in crime-hit areas.
The IGP said besides the security for buyers and sellers at cattle markets, security would also be ensured at parking spots of such markets. “Intelligence and reconnaissance teams along with bomb-disposal squad will also be made part of the contingency plan at cattle markets,” he said.
Under contingency plan for cattle markets, police personnel involved in snap-checking, picketing and spying across city would remain in touch with district police offices, Madadgar 15 and concerned police stations round the clock, he added.
The contingency plan also includes directions to be conveyed to police stations from central command and control centre in case of suspicious activities in any part of the city, the IG concluded.
