The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Wednesday termed voters’ verification through fingerprints impossible, saying that the countrywide process could last 10 years, a private news channel has reported.
According to the news channel, NADRA sources said that there are at least seven stages for verification. Counterfoil and Voter List will be obtained as per serial numbers in the first stage and counting of counterfoils will be the second stage.
The third phase will entail matching of pictured voter list with the counterfoil. The fourth phase will include scanning and digitalisation through which biometric verification takes place. In the next phase, the process is repeated two to three times once the initial report arrives. In the last phase, NADRA prepares a documentary report.
