Haq says he is working for a win-win situation

Jirga’s document of recommendations to be presented to govt, PTI, PAT soon

The leader of political jirga established to resolve the standoff between the government and protesters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Jamaat Islami chief Sirajul Haq Thursday said that they had managed to reach at a consensus on several points between the parties, however some issues were still persisting, which they were working hard to resolve as they did not want “anyone to go empty-handed”.

While holding a press conference along with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Rehman Malik after the meeting of opposition committee at the latter’s house, Haq said that the committee wanted to give a respectable exit to both the government and protesters.

“The jirga cannot mediate like a court and we have decided to give both sides some more time,” the JI chief said, adding that the jirga had prepared a document which will be shared with the conflicting parties soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Rehman Malik said that all the recommendations made by the committee were in line with the Constitution and the aspirations of the parliamentarians. He said that there was a way forward for all three sides in the document prepared.
