Two more dengue cases surface in Punjab

Two more people suffering from dengue virus were admitted in Rawalpindi and Lahore on Tuesday, increasing the number of dengue patients to 29 across Punjab during the current year.

According to Punjab Health Department, 25-year-old Tayyab Sheikh was brought to Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore where the doctors diagnosed him dengue virus positive after blood examination and another patient named Tehseen, 30, was admitted in Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Dengue is spreading across Punjab because of poor hygiene conditions. The heavy monsoon rains have provided ideal conditions for dengue-yielding mosquitoes to thrive in the stagnant waters.
