The ongoing protests of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has put the future of students at stake as 27 schools have not restarted studies after the end of summer vacations.

The board exams candidates from class 8th, 9th, 10th, 1st year and 2nd year are suffering the most as this is time for them to focus on their studies.

The summer vacations which were initially scheduled to end on August 11, were extended five time and finally majority of academic institutions opened on September 4, but future of 7 schools and college students is not clear which are being used for accommodating extra police force assigned to give security to sit in protestants.

“I got 82 percent marks in class 9th and want to show better results in matric exams but our school is not open and my studies are badly ignored,” said Asad, a student of Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-11/3.

Asad said protests were held all over the world but not like these which affect normal life of students, adding, if they wanted to register their protest, they better select a safe area like a stadium or any other place where it is easy for the management to provide them security.

Asma Sheikh, a lecturer, said that education was already disturbed due to extended summer vacations and those schools which are not open yet are suffering the most. “We plan a target for each month in start of year to give proper time to the whole syllabus and get good results but this year I have no idea rather we will be able to complete the course or not.”

Revision of course, class tests and extra time for weak areas of students are as much important for students especially for those appearing in board examinations but this year students have not resumed their studies which will have worse affects on their studies.

Fiaz Anwar, a father of two children, said everyone wants that their children show good results especially in FSc and Matric so that they can get admission in good institutions but this time my children studies are constantly going down. They are wasting their precious time and the vacations have also made them lethargic and care free, he said.

These sit in protesting parties leaders are not realizing how they are ruining future of our children, he expressed in a disappointed tone.

A representative of Capital Administration and Development Division when contacted said, “We have requested interior ministry that place the police cops to any other place so that studies of the students cannot affect or give alternate place for students”.

The official further informed that in response of their request more than half schools were opened but other are still not handed over to them, adding, “Now we have requested them again to do arrangement for opening remaining 27 schools and waiting for their response”.
