SC rejects Foreign Office report on arrest of alleged killer of former AG Sardar Khan

Supreme Court (SC) has directed the government to contact Afghan government high-ups and bring back Roohullah who is accused in the murder case of former attorney general (AG) Sardar Khan, from Afghanistan to Pakistan till September 30 while rejecting a Foreign Office report in this regard.

The FO report states that efforts are underway for bringing Roohullah back from Afghanistan. Earlier, the government had reportedly received information about Roohullah’s whereabouts but he is no longer present there.

The government is collaborating with the Afghan government to apprehend the accused, the report adds.

The report was presented by federal law officer before a three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Nasirul Mulk here Tuesday.

The court remarked that the matter is running since long and the culprit has not been arrested while directing the government to contact high-ups in the Afghan government to ensure the return of the accused.

It may be mentioned that former AG Sardar Khan was murdered near Khanpur Dam and accused Roohullah was arrested for allegedly committing the murder. The accused was detained in Adiala Jail and was brought to BenazirHospital for treatment. He fled to Afghanistan from the hospital and has not been arrested so far despite court orders for his arrest.
