DERA ISMAIL KHAN-
Voting for by-elections began on Monday for PK-68 provincial assembly seat in Dera Ismail Khan.
Beginning at 8am, the polling is expected to go on till 5pm in 108 polling stations set up for 127,617 registered voters.
Around 800 policemen have been deployed on duty at the polling stations.
The seat fell vacant after an election tribunal disaqualified an independent KP assembly member Javed Akbar for a fake degree.
With 13 candidates contesting for the seat, a neck-to-neck competition is expected between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Ehtesham Javed Akbar and independent candidate Murid Kazim Shah.
Shah is said to have the back of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP).
