Routine life in some parts of Karachi remains suspended as the city mourns the death of Allama Ali Akbar Kumaili, the son of Jafria Alliance Pakistan chief and former senator Allama Abbas Kumaili’s son.
The 42-year-old was shot dead in Bhangoria Goth, along with his guard on September 6, within the limits of the Azizabad police station.

Business activities in Ancholi, Soldier Bazaar, Abbas Town and other Shia-dominated areas came to a complete halt after Jafria Alliance announced a three-day mourning period.

The funeral prayer of the deceased will be offered after Zuhr prayers at Mehfil-e-Shah-Khurasan.
Ali Akbar was going home with his children from his ice factory located in Bhangoria Goth, Block-2 of Azizabad, when unidentified armed men opened fire at them. Akbar was shot thrice – twice in his chest and once in his abdomen – and his guard Jumman Khan was shot twice. Both men were taken to the Ziauddin Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
