- NA speaker commemorates Defence Day by calling on everyone to renew the pledge to uphold integrity, dignity, honour and sovereignty of Pakistan at all costs

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that the commemoration of September 6 revives the spirits and strengthens the resolve to defend the country against all kinds of threats and to be always prepared for any sacrifice for its integrity and honor.
In his message to the nation on Defence Day, the speaker said that the Defence Day reminds the people of the efforts of the armed forces of Pakistan in thwarting the nefarious designs of the enemy which was much superior in size and equipment.
The demonstration of unswerving spirit and unflinching resolve to defend the motherland were the hallmark of all battles on land, sea and air, he said.
As Pakistan is moving towards a path of progress, the speaker said that the supreme sacrifices of these sons who laid down their lives for prosperous future should always be remembered.
“Let us recall with pride and admiration the brave deeds of our shaheeds and ghazis who wrote an inspiring saga of courage and bravery in the skies of this region. We pay our special respect to those who are no longer with us to share their tales of glory,” said the speaker.
The speaker said that Pakistan is facing a myriad of gigantic challenges and is passing through a critical period of history. Our security is challenged by multi-dimensional and multi-directional threats. He said that it is not the first time that our nation is confronted with serious challenges but the Pakistani Nation has always braced formidable challenges with unity and courage. The speaker said that with the proverbial resilience of our people, we are destined to overcome the present challenges and will soon emerge as a stronger country.
“Our soldiers are our greatest asset as they not only offer their precious lives for fighting in battlefields but also remain prepared to undertake the responsibility of working as a cohesive force in very challenging situation, may it be horrifying earthquakes or the devastating floods,” the speaker said.
He said that everyone should renew the pledge on this day to uphold the integrity, dignity, honour and sovereignty of the country at all cost. He prayed for the strength and vision to fulfill obligations to the nation to the best of abilities and in line with the expectations of the people of Pakistan.
