Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif closely monitored the situation arising due to heavy rains in Lahore and other areas of Punjab.
He issued necessary instructions to provincial administration and heads of concerned departments for coping with the situation.
The chief minister while issuing instructions to provincial administration said that emergent situation demands immediate steps and all-out resources should be utilized for dealing with the situation created due to heavy rains. He said no effort should be spared for immediate redressal of problems of the people.
The chief minister directed provincial administration and concerned departments to accelerate relief activities and said that Punjab government equally shares the grief of heirs of the deceased persons.
CS VISITS CITY AFTER RAIN:
In the meanwhile, Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema along with Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Naseer Chaudhary visited various areas of the provincial capital to check the storm water disposal after heavy rains on Thursday.
The chief secretary inspected the WASA operation and water disposal of the main sewer lines at Lakshami Chowk, Nisbat Road, the Mall, Abbott Road and other areas and supervised the WASA operation.
He expressed satisfaction and directed WASA MD to further improve the working capacity besides ensuring standby arrangements of fuel for generators during power load shedding so that the working of disposal pumps could be remain continued uninterrupted.
Later, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Capt (R) Muhammad Usman also visited areas of Johar Town and other areas to inspect the situation after rain.
