Constitutional Avenue turns into protester’s dust bin

The Constitutional Avenue and Parliament littered with garbage due to prolong sit-ins of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

The scattered garbage around the sensitive buildings in red zone not only damaging environment but also causing diseases to the participants of demonstrations.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Director Sanitation Sardar Khan said that about 100 sanitary workers had been deputed in red zone area to expedite cleanliness work. He said that cleaning the area is the priority of the authority and special arrangements had been made to complete this job.

While bad sanitation conditions on important roads littered with garbage where the marchers are stationed. A lot of litter was scattered in different spots of the sit-ins venue.

An official of CDA Environment Wind said that the green belts and plants on the Constitution Avenue losing its beauty due to the sit-ins of PAT and PTI.

They have not only destroyed the beauty of the highway but also damaged the plants. The irony is that the people throw waste in surroundings of the venue which causing bad smell.

An official of Red Crescent Society said that various infectious diseases including Cholera, Cough and gastro were being reported due to bad cleaning condition at sit-ins site. He said that the society had deputed 12 ambulances and 150 trained staff and volunteers in red zone since the Inqlab and Azadi marches arrived here. He said that hundreds of participants of sit-ins had been provided medical treatment.
