ISLAMABAD-
Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday confirmed that the Chinese President Xi Jinping has called off his scheduled visit to Pakistan over ongoing anti-government protests in Islamabad.
‘The two governments have mutually agreed to postpone the visit for the time being owing to the protests,’ stated Aziz.
Last month, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa also cancelled his visit to Pakistan in the wake of the country’s political situation.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, earlier this week, warned that the ongoing political situation could jeopardise a number of key projects the country wants to undertake with other states.
