Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) member Ashraf Gujjar on Wednesday sent a request to the Ministry of Interior for placing the names of Pakistan Tehereek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri on the Exit Control List (ECL).
In his plea to the ministry, Gujjar stated that Khan and Qadri had been booked in cases of treason and terrorism therefore their names should be enlisted on ECL until they are given a clean chit by the courts. The Interior Ministry has summoned a meeting to consider the request, sources added.
Khan and Qadri are leading protests against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government, alleging that it has come into power after rigging.
