Four family members were axed to death and another injured in the limits of Garh Meharaja Police Station on Wednesday. Punjab chief minister took notice and sought report of the incident.
According to police sources, some unidentified men armed with axes, barged into a house and attacked the family members with axes in Sharifabad Jhang. Four persons including a couple and their two daughters were axed to death and a son received injuries in the attack. The assailants managed to flee from the scene.
The deceased were identified as head of the family Talib Hussain, his wife Shamim Mahi, two daughters Najaf, 11, and Mebra, 14, while their 9-years-old son Sabar Hussain sustained injuries.
Police shifted the dead bodies and injured to Nishtar Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought report from the police. The chief minister also ordered arrest of the culprits immediately.
