WASHINGTON-

The United States reiterated its call to all sides in the political crisis in Pakistan, now in its third week, to exercise restraint and resolve issues through peaceful dialogue.

In a media briefing at Washington, the United States Department of State spokesperson Jen Psaki said that the United States of America is in contact with the Pakistani government, however America was not involved in any sort of internal political decision pertaining to the ongoing protest, and it was not a part of the negotiation process at all.

Psaki further expressed her aspiration by saying that all the political parties should resolve the current political process through dialogue in a peaceful manner so that this conflict can be resolved as soon as possible. She added that all the political parties should come to a political solution in cooperation with each other, and should work towards strengthening the foundations of democracy and the constitution.

“We continue to monitor the situation in Pakistan, and we’re in contact with appropriate counterparts,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters at the daily press briefing.

Responding to questions, the spokesperson said the United States was not in any way involved in the discussions between the parties. The United States, she added, believes that the parties involved should resolve the issues in a way that would strengthen democracy.
