Privatisation Commission Chairman Muhammad Zubair Wednesday said before the speech of Nawaz Sharif on May 11, 2013 all the TV channels had declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz successful on 115 seats in the general elections.

Addressing a press conference in reaction to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s allegations of rigging in the polls, Zubair said out of 139 candidates of PTI only two went to the Supreme Court.

He said Imran Khan speaks of 35 punctures but the fact must also be kept in mind that only 12 PML-N candidates were declared winners from these constituencies.

He said only Usman Dar of PTI had lost elections in one of the four constituencies which PTI has been demanding to be probed. Usman Dar was repeatedly asked to come but he never did so, as he remains engaged in his business abroad, he added.

Zubair said in one of the four constituencies, a PML-N candidate had lost the polls contest against Jehangir Tareen of PTI.

He said the court had issued 11 notices to Imran Khan in connection with the constituency that the latter ran for but he didn’t even respond to those notices let alone paying visit to the court.

He said in an interview Imran Khan was asked as to why his party’s polling agents never complained of rigging, the latter said the polling agents were ‘decent’ people and they didn’t know what was going on. He added that only 30 PTI candidates for National Assembly seats had filed complaints with election tribunals.
