Azadi Train gets warm welcome in Sindh

A large number of people from different segments of society welcomed the Azadi Train on its arrival at various cities of Sindh including Sukkur and Rohri.

People continued thronging the compartments of the train exhibiting portraits of freedom movement leaders and the martyrs who had been decorated with the Nishan- i-Haider.

Azadi Train is being run for the first time in connection with the Independence Day celebrations and to pay homage to martyrs of the Pakistan Movement and soldiers who sacrificed their lives while defending the country.

There are galleries exhibiting various aspects of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s life, Ziarat Residency, Bab-i-Khyber, cultures of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.

Pakistan Railways announced the platform ticket had been waived off to facilitate people. According to an official of Pakistan Railways, Azadi Train is aimed at informing the younger generation about the struggle for Pakistan, highlight sacrifices of the armed forces and introduce different cultures of Pakistan.

The Azadi Train started its journey from Peshawar on August 11 and will end its journey at Karachi on September, 11 on the eve of death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
