The Faisal Town Police have amended the First Information Report [FIR] of the June 17 Model Town incident by including Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, Section 295-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and sections 452 and 365 of the PPC, besides removing the additional note by the station house officer concerned.
The case has been registered against 21 persons including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and several other federal ministers, bureaucrats and police officials.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri had refused to accept the initial FIR that was registered on the orders of the Lahore High Court after much delay by the police.
Meanwhile, sources told Pakistan Today that the FIR register (called Roznamcha) has been taken into custody by Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Superintendent of Police Omar Virk, a notorious police officer known for his close links with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
