In the backdrop of his “lies” against the party chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to issue a show-cause notice to its president Javed Hashmi, with the party’s Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari suggesting that Hashmi should have resigned from the party if he felt that Khan had contacts with the Army.

In a statement Monday, Mazari responded to Hashmi’s news conference stating that his allegations were “baseless”.

“The fact is that there was no such talk in any meeting nor is there any such covert agenda. The chairman had said from day one that if the legal venues of redress failed to give justice to PTI’s appeals against rigging, then the party would come out on the roads to protest,” the statement added.

In the press release, Mazari outlined that after accusing Khan of lying, Hashmi had parted ways with the party chairman; however, the party was adopting the party’s constitutional path by issuing him a show-cause notice.

The statement further claimed that PTI’s protest has been “peaceful and democratic” while their demands have also been “constitutional”.

“PTI is a democratic party and in our core committee meetings, there is open discussion after which party consensus is established.”
