Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasirul Mulk on Tuesday denied holding any direct or indirect meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as claimed by PTI President Javed Hashmi.
CJP Mulk clarified that he had only met the PTI chief once. “At that time I was acting chief election commissioner and I met Khan to discuss the biometric voting system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and pending petitions. Khan’s lawyer Hamid Khan and two other leaders were also present.”
Regarding Hashmi’s other claims; the CJP observed that “discussion between two party leaders is an internal matter of the party”.
The CJP’s clarification comes a day after veteran politician and PTI leader Hashmi made a claim that the PTI chief had revealed that the present CJP is in favour of PTI and had ensured to play a role in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s exit.
