Khan, Qadri booked for treason

Cases registered against Tareen, Qureshi, Sheikh Rashid and PTI workers for incitement and involvement in violence

The federal government Monday registered a treason case against the chairmen of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), while some senior PTI leaders and workers have also been booked on several charges.

The treason case was lodged at Pak Secretariat Police Station. Several sections and clauses including Section 124-A pertaining to treason have been included in the FIR. Both Khan and Qadri were also charged with incitement to violence, attempted murder, robbery and interference in state affairs.

Secretariat Police Station has also registered cases against PTI ally Sheikh Rasheed and PTI leaders including Jehangir Tareen and Shah Mehmood Qureshi over rioting in Islamabad’s Red Zone area and attack on Parliament House.

Two cases have been registered against PTI workers for snatching tear gas guns from security personnel and setting a police vehicle on fire. The workers are booked under sections 148, 149, 186, 353 and 382 which include rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon, unlawful offence by assembled people, obstructing public servant in discharge of duty, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty and theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft.
