‘Any action against PTI chief can turn Red Zone into dead zone’

Punjab Assembly (PA) Opposition Leader and senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Mehmoodur Rasheed has warned that any action against PTI chief Imran Khan can turn Red Zone into ‘dead zone’.

Talking to journalists at the party’s protest rally at Thokar Niaz Baig, Rasheed said that fire initiated in the Red Zone of the federal capital can reach the houses of ruling leaders.

Thousand of PTI workers led by party leaders including Yasmeen Rashid, Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Dr Murad, Sadia Sohail Rana blocked the Canal Road by burning tyres and placing hurdles. They chanted slogans against the government and ruling political leadership besides demanding them to step down.

The opposition leader alleged that the Punjab government sent thousands of ‘Gullu Butts’ in police uniform who set a new example of inhumanity by brutally torturing the peaceful PTI and PAT protestors.

He said that those involved in use of force against the unarmed protestors would be brought to book and exemplary punishment would be awarded to them.

The PTI leader said that Sharif brothers have taken shelter in their hideouts due to response of general public over their undemocratic steps.

He urged the leaders of the political party ruling in centre and Punjab to come out and face the masses.

Rasheed and other leaders addressing the participants of the protest demonstration paid rich tribute to their commitment for standing firm on stance of party leadership and bearing all hardships in this regard.

He alleged that dozen of people were killed in Islamabad but head of PIMS who is brother of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA is hiding the facts. Rulers would have to answer for bloodshed of innocent people, he added.

Rasheed also warned police to avoid creating hurdles in peaceful protests otherwise they would be considered responsible for any untoward incident.
