Info minister says govt registered ‘bogus’ FIR against PM over Model Town incident in order to maintain peace
Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that the government registered a bogus FIR of Lahore’s Model Town incident even against the prime minister for the cause of peace.
Talking to different television channels, he said that the prime minister was abroad when the Model Town incident took place on June 17.
The minister said that the government showed maximum flexibility and restraint to find an amicable solution to the current political stand-off, adding that there is no justification for protests.
Replying to a question, Rashid said that the government did not ask anyone to play the role of “mediator and guarantor” in the current situation. He said Army has been deployed under Article 245 of the Constitution to protect important buildings and sensitive installations located in the Federal Capital. He said the Army will play its constitutional role if anyone tried to deteriorate the situation.
Rashid said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s rhetorical saying that the umpire is going to raise a finger has disappointed his voters.
He said that the PTI chief is engaged in a media trial and levelling baseless allegations against the government.
