Bilawal condemns attacks on media persons

Pakistan People Party patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned attacks on reporters of different news channels by the protesters and police during Islamabad riots since last night.

In a press statement, the PPP patron-in-chief said that brutal manhandling and torture of reporters from Dawn, Samaa, ARY, Dunya, Din, and other news channels at the hands of rioters and the police were highly condemnable and democratic forces won’t tolerate such incidents.

Journalists deplore attack on media persons

Journalists of Naundero took out a rally and held a demonstration on Sunday against police attacks on media persons in Islamabad.

The police baton-charged media persons while covering PAT and PTI rallies in Islamabad.  The journalists, Nasser Jamal Dawoodpoto, Rashid Abro, Mansoor Soomro, Salim Solang and Rahmat Morio strongly condemned the highhandedness of Punjab police against journalists who were busy in discharging their professional duties.

They said that journalists had rendered memorable services for cause of restoration of democracy in the country and they would never allow anyone to usurp their rights at all. They further said that police targeted operation against working journalists should be deplored nationally and internationally.

The journalists said it was an attack on the freedom of expression which was guaranteed in the constitution of the country of which rulers were custodians. They appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the incidents, so that justice could be provided to the aggrieved media persons. They also condemned the brutal killing of Quetta journalists.
