PTI rejects PM’s statement on who invited the army

ISLAMABAD-

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan denied the claims of PM Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhary that his party had demanded to bring in the army chief for mediation in talks with the government.

Speaking at the sit-in in Red Zone, Khan said that it was 100 percent a lie that he demanded for army’s intervention.

The PTI chief said that during his meeting with COAS General Raheel Sharif, he told the army chief that he does not trust PM Sharif.

He said that the COAS told him that the PM is not willing to resign.

Khan, however, stated that he will not back down from the demand of PM’s resignation.

Earlier, Shah Mehmood Qureshi stated PTI did not make the demand and asked the PM to clarify his statement over the issue.

Qureshi said that the government had requested the army chief to play a role in the current situation, adding that his party believes in resolving the issue politically but the government does not appear serious.

He stated that unless the PM clarifies his statement, no further political development will be pursued by PTI.

Meanwhile, Shireen Mazari of PTI flayed the government for using the army for political gains.
