Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted one day exemption to former president Pervez Musharraf from attendance and directed him to appear before it on September, 19 in judges’ detention case.

Judges detention case came up for hearing before ATC Friday. Former president could not appear despite court’s orders.

On inquiring from the court, counsel for Musharraf, said that his client wanted to come to court, therefore, proper security be provided to him.

Counsel for prosecution, Amir Nadim Tabish, said IG Islamabad had held out assurance a few months earlier that security will be provided to the accused. Legal proceedings be initiated against Musharraf and his guarantors for non appearance of the former president in the court, he prayed.

Police filed their reply in the court on provision of security to the accused wherein it was stated that Musharraf cannot be produced in the court due to prevailing situation in the federal capital.

The court while expressing dissatisfaction over police reply granted exemption to Musharraf for one day and ordered him to appear before it on September, 19.
