Ready to nominate PM in FIR: Defence Minister

ISLAMABAD-

Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif on Thursday said that the government is ready to nominate Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in an First Information Report (FIR) for Model Town Incident in which 14 workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were killed, a private news channel reported.

“A process for the FIR has started and the government will not appeal against court orders,” said Asif on the floor of National Assembly.

But, he added, that the government’s move should not be interpreted as its weakness.

The nomination of PM in the FIR is one of the demands of PAT Chief Dr.Tahirul Qadri who also wants the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and dissolution of the assemblies.

The defence minister added that the government will attempt hard to avoid any bloodshed in the federal capital as PAT “Youm-e-Inquilab” on Thuesday.

“The government will not take any step which may cause bloodshed”, Asif said while talking to media outside the Parliament House.

On Wednesday night, Dr.Qadri announced to end talks with the government as both parties reached a deadlock and announced to observe ‘Youm-e-Inquilab’ today.
