Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) released a fresh notification Wednesday related to the law and order situation in the capital, saying that the capital police will not be allowed to use force against the protesters. The notification also restricts police personnel from baton-charging or teargas shelling unless given orders by magistrate.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri led thousands of supporters outside Parliament last week, calling for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to go.
Earlier, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid had said that no action was being carried out against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) protesters in Islamabad, adding that this trend was going to continue. He had said no such step would be taken by the government which could be termed as a reason for suspending negotiations. He had furthermore said that no pressure was being exerted by the police on those participating in the protests.
