ISLAMABAD-
A senator belonging to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (N) on Wednesday suggested that a post of deputy prime minister be created and offered to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for resolving the current political deadlock, a private news channel reported.
According to the report, Senator Jafer Iqbal has written a detailed letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, outlining a number of options to end the impasse and ensure continuity of the democracy.
He said that a post of deputy prime minister should be created and offered to PTI and the post should be given authority to fulfill the demands put forth by Imran Khan.
Iqbal has also recommended that a referendum be held in the country to seek public opinion over the system reforms demanded by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
Commenting over the news, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that PTI’s core committee would discuss the offer if it is officially conveyed to them by the government negotiating team, according to a private news channel.
