Online International News Network has revealed that during General Elections 2013, Rs 38.5 million were spent on “purchasing extra ballot papers” while over Rs 2.4 million were allegedly paid to 83 other men for printing ballot papers against the law.
The news agency’s report highlights that the “irregularity” was unveiled in 2012-13 Audit Report in which the audit officials had raised questions and sought explanation from relevant authorities.
According to documents, an “illegal agreement” was signed with M/S ASL Papers Limited for purchasing extra ballot papers which was violation of PPRA rules. According to PO No 11225, dated February 4, 2013, a contract worth Rs 41 million was signed with the above mentioned company.
After getting the first order, another order worth over Rs 38.5 million was allegedly rewarded in name of “emergency supply” which was approved by the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation managing director.
According to the news agency, the audit officials have raised objections over this irregularity and it was expected that Public Accounts Committee would discuss the matter in its next meeting.
Meanwhile, another report revealed that more ballot papers were published by 83 “outsiders” who were paid Rs 2.4 millions for their services while Rs 20 million were paid for “over-time”.
According to the agency’s report, audit officials said M/S Hussain International Services provided these 83 workers who were paid more than Rs 2.4 million.
These were the same ballots that were used to rig the election. This is another proof of rigging in the last election.
