Govt to provide four million jobs: Mujtaba

Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said that four million jobs would be provided to people while two million people would be trained technically to make them “self-sufficient”.

Talking to delegations Tuesday, he said the Punjab government wanted to improve the growth rate of the province up to eight percent in the next four years and as a result of it, more than seven million people would be able to live above the poverty line. He said 95 percent discretionary funds were spent on the treatment and financial help of poor people. He said 36 percent of the development budget had been allocated for South Punjab.

The minister said their priority was education and health sectors and the development budget of the current fiscal year was 17 percent more as compared to the previous year. He said power generation and elimination of load shedding were foremost priorities and 1320 megawatt electricity would be available after the completion of the Sahiwal power plant.
