ICCI rejects PTI’s call of civil disobedience

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Monday rejected the call of civil disobedience of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf saying that business community of the capital city would not support any move against democracy.

President ICCI, Shaban Khalid said that civil disobedience call by PTI would leave negative impact on country’s economy and would create political instability.

He said, “We are supporting the electoral reforms and movement for maintaining transparency and acceptability to strengthening the democracy in the country”.

President ICCI said that independent inquiry should be initiated to maintain transparency and future electoral reforms for strong democratic institutions. He said that political stability is necessary for strong economy and to bring foreign investment in the country for economic stability. He said that this agitation and demonstration already had negative impacts on Karachi Stock Exchange. He was of the view that economic activities in the federal capital were also affected by PTI sit-in and demonstration.

To a question, he said that political parties should join hands so that international community could receive positive message.

Shaban said that all issues should be resolved through negotiations with the consensus of all political stakeholder for the political stability and strengthening the democracy.
