KARACHI-

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain voiced serious concerns regarding upcoming days and stressed to protect Pakistan at all costs.

In an interview to a private news channel, Hussain said that he fears imposition of martial law in prevailing circumstances.

“I have already warned the nation about imminent hazards; now I am warning them again about other threats too,” he said.

The MQM chief said that only time alone would reveal if Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has gone to visit China or he has fled the country.

“The leaders who desert the country have no right to rule this land.”

He said that the country was being made to suffer due to inflated egos of the political leaders, adding that the country incurred losses worth over Rs80 billion due to the ongoing political turmoil.

‘No serious talks were being held with the sit-in participants in Pakistan, he added.

Under such circumstances citizens usually start looking up to Pakistan Army, he said.

He, however, added that the military is currently involved in the North Waziristan Operation and should not be diverted to other issues.

Earlier, MQM’s International Secretariat in London issued a statement in which the MQM chief appealed to the citizens to pray for Pakistan and ‘relocate themselves to safer positions in post-midnight stretch and not leave their houses except for some unavoidable necessity’.

Hussain has directed MQM’s senior members and parliamentarians to reach Islamabad and hold meeting meetings with political and religious parties on emergency basis.
