Pakistan People’s Party’s Punjab chapter president Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo appreciated the efforts of Imran Khan for ensuring fair, free and transparent elections and disapproved the use of unparliamentarily words in his speeches against the leaders of other political parties.
Transparency and social development were intertwined; he said in a statement.
He said Imran Khan was a leader of national stature and should treat other leaders with equal respect based on tolerance, decency and dignity. His tone and tenor against other political leadership was not measuring up to a national leader, he observed.
He reminded that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif started this practice as he broke the record of using derogatory language against the political opponents especially during the last PPP-led coalition government.
He said that an FIR of murder cases of the PAT workers in Model Town should be registered, adding the chief minister should also resign on his criminal negligence being the chief executive of the province.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said the proposal of PTI chief regarding the incumbent prime minister’s conditional stepping down for a month should be given serious consideration by the government after taking into account its admissibility in the constitution. The new leader of the House of the ruling party could be elected who would quiet the office of the premiership if rigging was not proved during the period, he added.
He suggested the government to focus on this proposal and strive to extricate the country from the quagmire of prevailing political deadlock that had been causing huge losses to the economy due to nosedive of stock market, shrinking of foreign exchange reserves, depreciation of value of rupee, postponement of the meeting with IMF and above all the image of the country the world over.
