Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Monday appreciated his energy and economic teams on obtaining approval of the Chinese government for putting power projects having generation capacity of 10,400 MW on first priority list and emphasized that steps should be taken to ensure their timely completion.

The prime minister said this while chairing a meeting which finalised preparations of the upcoming third meeting of the Joint China Commission (JCC) at the PM’s House.

The meeting reviewed the agenda of third JCC meeting scheduled to take place in Beijing this week wherein the Pakistani delegation would comprise the federal minister for planning and the chief ministers of Punjab and Balochistan among senior government officials.

The prime minister was informed that the meeting would focus on infrastructure development and energy-related projects.

Appreciating the Chinese support for Pakistan, he said, that China was their time-tested friend who understood their needs and had always been there to assist them.

The meeting also reviewed progress on the decisions taken in the previous preparatory meeting that took place last week.
