The prolonged sit-ins of Azadi and Inqalab marchers in capital have suspended the recreational activities, giving deserted look to most of the recreational spots.
The recreational spots of Islamabad, including, Pakistan Monument, Daman-e-Koh, Capital Zoo, Shakar Pariyan, Lok Virsa etc, which always had great attraction for the visitors, have witnessed very few people due to the sit-ins led by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri.
A local resident, Asad Khan said that they have restricted in their movement ever since these sit-ins started, until and unless it was very important, so there was no question to go for picnic or visiting such recreational places.
“There is a situation of uncertainty all around and no one is sure what is going to happen,” he said.
“Our comfort and normal activities have been put at stake, we are the victims of the political agenda being persuaded by the two leaders,” he said.
“We are highly perturbed as yet it was not clear, as how long the sit-ins will continue. We are seriously concerned over the security risk to our lives during the ongoing sit-ins,” another resident, Rehan Ahmad said.
The shopkeepers at these recreational points also showed deep concerns over the current situation and said that it is not only they who were suffering, but the business community in the city was also besieged causing huge losses to the business.
“This situation will not only send a wrong signal to the world but also have adverse impact on Pakistan’s overall political, economic and social fabric,” they asserted.
