Leading businessmen of the country formed a new group called “United Business Panel” for promotion of democracy in the country.
It will be headed by Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (FPCCI) former president Iftikhar Ali Malik. It was announced during a meeting held at a local hotel.
The members of the panel include SM Muneer, Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Mian Zahid Husain, Haji Ghulam Qadir Sherani, Zubair F Tufail, SM Naseer, Jamil Mehboob Magon, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Tanweer Ahmed Shaikh, Mian Idrees, Engineer Dawood Khan, Riazuddin Shaikh, Aijaz Khokhar, Mumtaz Shaikh, Shaikh Riaz, Shaikh Younus, Hameed Akhtar, Haroon Rashid, Ms Hina Mansab Khan, Mrs Salma Ahmed and Mrs Rizwana Shahid.
The leader of the newly-formed United Businessmen Panel, Iftikhar Ali Malik, said that the efforts would be made to bring `true’ democracy in FPCCI through ballot. He also announced that regular elections would be held in United Businessmen Panel after every two years.
Speaking on the occasion, SM Muneer said that Prime Minister Nawaz Shairf and Punjab’s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had reposed their confidence in him and that was why they had appointed him as chief executive of the TDAP.
He said he was neither drawing any salary nor using TDAP vehicles. He said the group would introduce merit in the affairs of the FPCCI.
