An anti-terrorism court on Saturday issued orders for the arrest of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahirul Qadri in a case pertaining to the torture of policemen by PAT workers.
The court also summoned Qadri on August 29.
Meanwhile, a local anti-terrorism court on Saturday granted bail to 72 PAT workers who were rounded by police on charges of violence in Lahore.
The PAT activists were produced in the court where the judge accepted their bail pleas for surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.
Qadri’s followers were arrested in Lahore on charges of violence and clashes with police ahead of their party’s anti-government long march to Islamabad.
The PAT chief has accused the government for Model Town violence in which at least 14 of his supporters were gunned down by Punjab Police.
