Qadri accepts govt’s request for talks

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique Sunday said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has accepted the government’s appeal to hold negotiations for ending the political deadlock that entered its 10th day on Sunday.

Rafique told this to reporters after holding a two-hour-long meeting with the PAT chief in his container at the sit-in venue. The minister said that the government would soon announce a committee to resume the dialogue process.

“Dr Qadri has told me that he is ready for positive and meaningful negotiations with the government,” Rafique said.

Confirming that the government has made the appeal for dialogue, PAT President Raheeq Abbasi told reporters that the party still stands firmly by their demands.
