At least eight people were killed and over 10 others injured in the early hours of Sunday in a head-on collision between a passenger van and a bus on the National Highway near Sindh’s Khairpur district.
The incident occurred when the vehicle was passing by the Goth Darya Khan area in Faiz Ganj.
The injured also include women, children and the drivers of both vehicles. Both the vehicles were completely destroyed in the accident. According to initial reports, the incident occurred as a result of speeding.
Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving. In recent days, the country has witnessed a sharp rise in the number of such deadly accidents.
