The environment-friendly place of Saidpur Village in federal capital, which reflects historical cultural heritage, has been witnessing a deserted look these days due to current political scenario.

The sit-ins organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) led by Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan have not only disrupted the routine life of city residents but restaurants, markets, parks and other recreational points of capital city have also witnessed less visitors for last few days.

The village, which has attraction for foreign as well as local visitors, has been giving a deserted look for last one week due to suspended recreational and cultural activities in the town.

It may be mentioned that, Saidpur Village is a tourist attraction for many reasons, a little quaint village, famous for its pottery, is part of Islamabad today. It is located off the Hill Road to the east of Daman-e-Koh.

Saidpur was founded by Sultan Said Khan, son of Sultan Sarang Khan. Saidpur was a garden resort and a perpetual spring provided water for drinking and for watering gardens an attractive destination, where cultural exhibitions and restaurants provided a great ambiance among the hills during the Mughal period.

This project was then renovated into an attractive tourist destination by Capital Development Authority (CDA), which developed Saidpur into a tourist attraction where exhibits and restaurants provide a great view among the hills.

CDA carried out development work through a project worth Rs 400 million to make this village a tourist-friendly place that included establishment of home cafes and handicraft bazaars, the restoration of a 150-year old temple, and the upgrading of services and the environment.

The owners of restaurants at Saidpur Village showed deep concern over the current situation and said the position on other recreational points was same and causing huge losses to their business.
