Civil Society organisations have pledged that they will not accept disruption of constitutional rule and will actively resist it.
This was announced by Hina Jillani, IA Rehman, Muhammad Tehseen, Farooq Tariq, Irfan Muazzam Hussain Naqi, Shah Taj Qizilbash and other leaders addressing a press conference of Joint Action Committee (JAC) of People’s Right here on Wednesday.
They said, “We would like to make it clear that no terms of compromise would be acceptable to us if they are in conflict with democratic governance and supremacy of Parliament.”
They said protest and long march are limited only to two provinces and the voice of the federation is missing.
“The government should take the lead in ensuring that Parliament becomes duly effective and civil institutions are strengthened which alone can deter future adventures,” said JAC Convenor Shah Taj Qizilbash
The JAC demanded that the political forces should pro-actively defuse the situation without giving into demands that undermine the democratic institutions.
