The Supreme Court Tuesday suspended the Sindh election tribunal decision and restored the membership of PPP’s Sindh Assembly member Ghulam Qadir Chandio from PS-27.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Mushir Alam heard the Ghulam Qadir Chandio petition against the election tribunal’s decision for re-election in the constituency.
Declaring Chandio ineligible, the ECP ordered re-elections in PS-27, Nawabshah. Sindh United Party member Zainul Abedeen had challenged Chandio’s membership of the provincial assembly and he had filed a petition in the ECP.
The Supreme Court suspended the election tribunal’s decision for re-election in the PS-27 and issued notices to respondents. It adjourned hearing of the case for indefinite period.
