Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was ready to pull Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan out of the quagmire after the failure of the long march and sit-in.
Talking to a private news channel, the minister said, “Imran Khan is stuck in a swamp after the failure of his long march. He has invited criticism by giving unconstitutional and undemocratic call of civil disobedience. However, being a parliamentary and political party, we are ready to pull him out of the swamp.”
Replying to a question, the senator said that even PML-N leadership was ready to go to the residence of Imran Khan – subject to PTI chief’s willingness to listen to their point of view.
Reminding Sharif’s goodwill gestures, he said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had postponed all political activities for three days after Khan fell from a makeshift lift during his election campaign in Lahore and he had also visited the hospital to inquire after his health. He said the prime minister also went to Khan’s residence in Bani Gala as a good will gesture.
Rashid said that all parliamentary forces were criticising PTI’s civil disobedience call and seeing it as against constitutional and democratic norms. He said there was difference in words and practice of PTI, which was reflective from the fact that Khan gave the disobedience call and PTI Secretary General Jehangir Tareen paid all taxes and customs duty payable by his factories on August 18.
