11 development schemes approved

The Punjab government on Tuesday approved 11 development schemes of different sectors at an estimated cost of Rs 6695.570 million.

The schemes were approved in the sixth meeting of Provincial Development Working Party of Fiscal Year 2014-15 presided over by Punjab Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi.

P&D Provincial Secretary Waseem Ajmal Choudhary, P&D Board members, provincial secretaries concerned and other senior representatives of relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.

The approved development schemes include: Improvement / Rehabilitation of existing 11.2 kilometer-long Multan Road from Chowburji to Thokar Niaz Baig at a cost of Rs311 million; construction of 42.71 kilometer-long road from Narowal to Lahore via Baddomalhi-Narang-Kala Khatai Shahdara at a cost of Rs 697.626 million; widening / improvement of Mianwali Muzaffargarh road from 229.8kilometers to 278.36 kilometers (length 48.56 kilometers); Section Chowk Sarwar Shaheed to TP link Canal and TP. link Canal to Muzaffargarh (Revised) at a cost of Rs 1032.896 million; establishment of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Bahawalpur at a cost of Rs 2350 million; installation of New Water Supply Scheme for the residents of Fateh Jang City at a cost of Rs420.441 million; feasibility study for raising of Rawal Dam (PC-II) at a cost of Rs38.059 million; feasibility study of Qutib Bandi Dam Site (PC-II) at a cost of Rs39. 507 million; feasibility study of Thatta Dam Project (PC-II) at a cost of Rs43.844 million; lining of Thamman Disty RD 0+000 to 97+960 Tail, District Kasur at a cost of Rs318.550 million; rehabilitation and improvement of existing dams and irrigation channels in Small Dams Organisation at a cost of Rs732.017 million and hiring of design review, monitoring, reporting and construction supervision consultants .
