At least two Chenab Rangers and a citizen were injured in the early hours of Monday when personnel from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) fired shots across the Working Boundary into the Charwah and Chapra sectors near Sialkot.
Sources said that several livestock was also killed in the Indian firing.
Chenab Rangers responded to the firing, forcing the Indian guns to fall silent after some time.
The incident comes days after Narendra Modi accused Pakistan of waging a proxy war in Kashmir as he visited the town of Kargil to inaugurate two hydropower stations in nearby Leh and Kargil.
