Steeping up pressure on the government, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee on Monday decided to resign from their seats in the National Assembly, and provincial assemblies in Punjab and Sindh, but kept the decision of winding up its government in Khyber Pakhtukhwa province pending until consultations with its coalition partners.

PTI Senior Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters after the meeting held at Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence that the party’s legislators had submitted their resignations to the party and as soon as all resignations had been collected they would approach the National Assembly speaker and hand over the resignations to him.

The PTI has 35 seats in NA, 28 in Punjab Assembly and four in Sindh Assembly, while in KP the party holds 56 seats.
